Studio One challenge

1. Listen to the pattern. 2. Set Studio One to the same tempo and a 1/16 grid. 3. Enter the triangular notes on the matching drum rows. 4. Loop one measure and compare. 5. Try the expanded kit or switch to Create Mode to make a variation.

Teaching reference patterns are simplified classroom examples. Different recordings within each genre use many variations. Expanded Kit adds ride and a one-time crash on beat 1 of the first measure only; the crash does not repeat as the groove loops. In Expanded Rock and Hip-Hop / Funk, hi-hat plays quarter notes and ride plays eighth notes. In Expanded EDM and Reggaeton, ride plays eighth notes. All can be edited in Create Mode.
